NeoMetal Pride collection support The National Center for Transgender Equality

The Pride Collection, Supporting The National Center for Transgender Equality

Happy Pride Month from the NeoMetal Family!

This Pride, we’re celebrating with a new collection inspired by the diverse community we are proud to be a part of. The collection, a permanent addition to our catalog, features ten Pride flag flower and trinity combinations.

The LGBTQ+ community has played a large role in shaping the modern body piercing industry, and the relationship between queer identity and body modifications has a long history. In 1975, Jim Ward founded the first-ever piercing studio and body jewelry manufacturer, Gauntlet. As a gay man, Ward learned to pierce as part of the BDSM and leather community, and this community made up a large part of Gauntlet’s customer base. Throughout the ‘90s, piercing continued to be firmly rooted in the gay community. In many ways, through piercing, queer people were asserting their right to bodily autonomy. While piercing and body modifications are more mainstream, queer rights and bodies are still publicly debated, restricted, and demonized.

That is why, in honor of our new Pride collection, NeoMetal is donating $5,000 to The National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE), and matching this with an additional $5,000 of the profits from this collection, on behalf of NeoMetal Clients.

The National Center for Transgender Equality advocates to change policies and society to increase understanding and acceptance of transgender people. In the nation’s capital and throughout the country, NCTE works to replace disrespect, discrimination, and violence with empathy, opportunity, and justice.
